AMERICAN HISTORY. Here is an opportunity for someone to work through the details , where possible , and try and trace the movements of the Rippeth family in America over the past three hundred years . Which history book did the friend of Peggy (Rippeth) Horn see the statement that 13 members of the Rippeth family landed in America in 1657 ?, what were the names of these Rippeths. Brian has studied all the books on emigration in the U.K., so far without any luck. Does anyone know more ? . The History detailed on this page is really the History that everyone knows well , but I've chosen some dates just to set the scene , prior , to the landing of those first few souls. It was interesting for me an Englishman , who has always been a great fan of Western films to remember that Linus Rawlings , played by James Stewart in the film "How the West was Won" , had on his tombstone the dates 1810 to 1862 .In the film he was supposed to be one of the very early adventurers in the West , as depicted by Hollywood of course , but 1810 - 1862 is nearly 150 years after our Family got there ! That must be true and I find that quite amazing , to think of them living in the West in those early days. .They must have been a tough old bunch. |
